Vit D
Vitamin D Deficiency Syndrome, or VDDS, exists
- when 25(OH)D levels are less than 50 ng/mL in patients
- with two or more of the following conditions: osteoporosis, heart disease, hypertension, autoimmune diseases, certain cancers, depression, chronic fatigue, or chronic pain.
VDDS is a group of diseases that are associated with chronic vitamin D insufficiency, and which cause a significant derangement of function. VDDS is more common among blacks, the aged, and those who either avoid the sun or are deprived of it.

Parkinson's disease - Ubiquinol and low dose naltrexone
How to use CoQ10 to completely stop the progression of Parkinson's disease.
When Parkinson's disease first shows up, it's very mild. But as time goes by, the symptoms progress to the point where they are completely incapacitating. If only there was a way to stop the progression of the disease. Well, there is.
Parkinson's is a mitochondrial disease. Mitochondria are the energy-producing parts of the cell. Every cell in your body has thousands of mitochondria. As long as the mitochondria are working efficiently, the cells (and you) will have boundless amounts of energy.
But as we get older, mitochondrial efficiency decreases. And as this happens, two things occur. First, the cells become deprived of energy and we start to function a lot like a flashlight with a weak battery. Second, poorly functioning mitochondria are the primary cause of the free radical damage that not only causes Parkinson's disease, but every other neurological disease associated with aging.
Although there are a number of nutrients that must be present in adequate amounts in order for the mitochondria to be working well, perhaps none are more important than coenzyme Q10. Most Parkinson's patients are very familiar with CoQ10. The fact that it slows the progression of Parkinson's is nothing new. But I'm going to show you a way to use it to completely stop the progression of Parkinson's.
First, let's look at how CoQ10 works. CoQ10 is essential for the first two phases of mitochondrial energy production called complex I and complex II.
Scientists at the University of California in San Diego recently examined the effects of CoQ10 supplements in patients with Parkinson's. They studied 80 patients with early Parkinson's disease. Their symptoms were so mild that none of them needed medication. Then they divided them into four groups. One group took 300 mg of CoQ10 each day, one group 600 mg, one group 1,200 mg, and one group took a placebo pill. The researchers then watched what happened over the next 16 months.
At the end of the trial, the patients who received the largest dose of CoQ10 demonstrated an impressive 44% slower rate of decline compared to the placebo group. Even the people getting the smaller doses had less disability than the placebo group. But the benefits were greatest in the 1,200 mg group.
Now for the easiest way to completely stop the progression of this nasty disease, I have been recommending a daily dose of 2,000 mg of CoQ10 to all of my patients with Parkinson's for several years now. And although I do not have a double-blind, placebo-controlled study like these researchers, so far this dose has completely stopped the progression of the disease in every patient who has tried it. It really is that simple!
You can find high-potency forms of CoQ10 online and in health food stores. Vitaline makes a high-dose product that researchers have used in many studies on Parkinson's disease.
There's also a new form of CoQ10 called ubiquinol that's better absorbed. Studies show that it's absorbed eight times more efficiently than regular CoQ10. So 50 mg of ubiquinol provides virtually the same high blood levels of CoQ10 as the regular form. To reach the equivalent of 2,000 mg per day of regular CoQ10, you would need to take eight soft gels daily. You can order ubiquinol by following this link.
As of September 2003, Dr. Bihari reported that there were seven patients with Parkinson's Disease (PD) in his practice, all of whom have shown no progression since beginning LDN. Indeed, two of them have shown clear evidence of improvement in signs and symptoms.
Two people with PD, the first patients with that disorder known to have been treated with LDN, have had good results that persist after more than two years on LDN. One patient, a man in his mid-60's from New Jersey, had his first annual revisit to Dr. Bihari for a check-up in April 2002. His wife reported that, in contrast to all the other members of his PD monthly group meeting, he seemed to have shown no deterioration in his functional abilities throughout the prior year. On a thorough neurological examination, Dr. Bihari found improvement in some signs of his Parkinson's Disease. Among these was now the absence of the glabellar sign, a primitive reflex that is consistently found in those with PD and which the patient had demonstrated the year before on his initial examination.
Another patient with PD is a 48-year-old male who began LDN in December 2000. Because he was seeing no improvement in his condition (although he wasn't getting any worse), he discontinued LDN in early March 2002. He called Bihari in mid-May 2002 because he was now beginning to see, for the first time in over a year, worsening of his PD symptoms. In those three months, the disease manifested increased tremor and rigidity in the involved arm. He resumed LDN and over the following two months experienced reversal of the progression that had occurred off of the drug. He was also able to reduce his dopamine-analogue medication by two-thirds, relieving the depression that it was producing.

Asthma
Asthma has increasingly become a very common affliction. In fact, it now affects some 20 million Americans, as it has increased by more than 300 percent over the last 20 years.
Asthma is an inflammatory condition, typically of your upper airways, that can cause:
* Chest tightness
* Shortness of breath
* Wheezing
* Coughing
Coughing is frequently overlooked, however it is one of the hidden symptoms, so if you suffer from unexplained bouts of coughing, you should consider getting yourself checked for asthma.
The Dangers of Conventional Asthma Treatments
The conventional asthma treatment typically consists of a non-steroidal bronchodilator – an anti-inflammatory agent that you inhale. It causes the smooth muscle cells in your lungs to relax, which opens up your airways.
If that doesn’t t work, the next level is typically an inhaled steroid, which is a very potent anti-inflammatory agent. The reason these aggressive types of intervention are performed is because asthma is indeed a serious condition. It can be fatal, so you need to be serious about treating it.
Unfortunately, the conventional approaches are not without side effects.
In addition to local side effects, the most common side effect -- which is typically not appreciated -- is that non-steroidal bronchodilators will double your risk of a heart attack.
And steroids, even though they can help reduce the inflammation in your lungs, are fraught with serious side effects, including:
* Cardiovascular disease
* Impaired growth of your body and internal organs (including your brain)
* Infections
* Cataracts
* Osteoporosis
* Diabetes
* Weight gain
* High blood pressure, and a variety of other disease conditions
These aggressive drug approaches clearly do not treat the cause of your asthma, and they can be quite dangerous, even lethal.
Clearly you’ll want to avoid having to resort to such measures. Fortunately there are simple strategies you can use that will virtually eliminate your need for these medications.
Safe and Effective Strategies to Treat Your Asthma
Although asthma is a serious disease, safely treating your asthma is not a complicated affair. Here are some basic, simple strategies that can help treat the root of your problem:
Optimize your vitamin D levels – We now know that there’s a very strong connection between vitamin D levels and asthma, as vitamin D can be a very powerful immune modulator. However, I don’t suggest just taking the recommended daily allowance, which is a mere 400 units a day. You really need to make sure you’re getting therapeutic levels.
This is ideally obtained from exposing a significant amount of your skin -- not just your hands and face -- to appropriate amounts of sunlight.
What is an appropriate amount of sun exposure?
Enough, from either the sun or a safe tanning bed, to turn your skin the very lightest shade of pink. Once you reach that shade of pink, your body is not going to produce any more vitamin D. In fact, you’re only going to cause damage to your skin if you increase your exposure past that point.
You can actually produce up to 20,000 units of vitamin D per day through this kind of exposure. However, you don’t need to be concerned with how much you’re producing, as your skin has a feedback loop that will shut down the production of vitamin D past a certain point. As you get sufficient levels in your body you’ll automatically produce less accordingly, so there’s never any risk of overdosing when getting your vitamin D from the sun.
When you swallow vitamin D however, this feedback loop does not exist so you need to be careful if you chose to take an oral vitamin D supplement as overdosing can be just as bad as being severely deficient.
I do recommend oral supplements if you don’t have regular access to the sun or a safe tanning bed. But if you do, make sure you monitor your blood with an accurate test . The one caution here in the US is to be certain your test is performed at a lab like Labcorp, that uses the gold standard Diasorin test for checking vitamin D levels. Due to information published by the New York Times about Quest labs, where they admitted to inaccurate results, I no longer recommend using them.
If you get your levels to about 60 ng/ml, there’s a strong likelihood -- especially if you combine it with exercise and balancing out your omega 3 and omega 6 fats as described below -- that you will not experience the symptoms of asthma anymore.
Increase your intake of animal-based omega 3 fats – I can’t emphasize enough the importance of getting sufficient amounts of high quality animal-based omega 3 fats in your diet.
Because although I strongly believe we all need plant-based omega 3 fats (and I consume some virtually every day myself, like hemp seed or flax seed), the difference is that most of us do not possess the metabolic machinery to rapidly convert the ALA in these plants to the higher order fats DHA and EPA, which are potent anti-inflammatories.
Although I still recommend fish oil in some instances, I believe krill oil is an even better source of omega 3 fats for most people.
Reduce your intake of omega 6 fats – In addition to adding omega 3 fats to your diet, you also want to reduce the amount of omega 6 fats you consume because the ratio between these two fats is very important.
Many don’t realize that about a century ago, people only consumed 1-2 pounds of plant-based omega 6 fats per year. Today, the average American is consuming about 75-80 pounds a year of these vegetable oils, such as corn oil, soy- and safflower oil.
When you eat lots of them, which you will if you use a lot of processed foods, the balance between omega 3 and omega 6 fats will become distorted, which can cause the type of inflammation that leads to asthma.
Consider the hygiene hypothesis – There’s a tendency in our modern culture to be obsessive about cleanliness, especially in children. However, this may not be as healthy as initially thought. It appears that being exposed to common bacterial and viral infections as a child can be instrumental in providing the stimulus to your immune system to prevent asthma naturally.
Get regular exercise – Exercise (especially out in fresh air if you’re an asthmatic) is actually crucial as it helps to moderate your insulin levels. It increases your insulin receptor sensitivity, and as a result your body produces less insulin, which tends to optimize it. Research has also shown that asthmatics who exercise tend to show improvement in:
*
Maximum ventilation
*
Maximal oxygen uptake
*
Work capacity, and
*
Maximum heart rate
You can also use allergy testing to build up your immune system. My experience is that conventional testing does not work very effectively and there is a fair amount of risk. A far better intradermal skin test would be provocation neutralization testing.
The American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) has a list of physicians who are trained in this highly effective technique.
Conclusion
Don’t you agree it’s a safer and wiser strategy to address the cause of your disease, rather than treating the symptoms with expensive, potentially dangerous drugs? If you follow these simple strategies mentioned above, you can virtually eliminate your need for bronchodilators and steroid drugs.
Asthma and Vit C
Beginning when you awake in the morning, take 1,000 to 2,000 mg of vitamin C every 30 minutes and continue doing so until you have a single episode of loose stool (not quite diarrhea). If you haven’t had loose stool after 15 hours on this dosage, increase the vitamin C to 3000 mg every 30 minutes.
After you have a loose bowel movement, reduce the dosage to 2,000 mg of vitamin C every hour. You will quickly find the dosage that is right for you. Adjust the dosage of vitamin C downward to stay below the dosage that will cause loose stool and adjust it upward to relieve asthma symptoms. The usual maintenance dosage to remain asthma-free is 15,000 to 50,000 mg of vitamin C per day taken in eight equally divided doses.
People with asthma should also avoid tobacco smoke, minimize stress in their lives and minimize their consumption of junk foods, meat and dairy products.

Hydrocortisone deficiency
1. Weakness and fatigue — especially in the afternoon (this symptom is so prevalent that if it is not there, hydrocortisone deficiency is probably not there either)
2. Decreased coping ability — “My plate is so full I feel like I won’t be able to keep up!”
3. Hypoglycemia & carbohydrate craving
4. Mood swings
5. Headaches, especially if they occur in the late morning or afternoon
6. Insomnia
7. Allergies (almost certainly present in cases of severe allergies)
8. Adrenalin tide or “panic attacks” — tachycardia, dry mouth, perspiration, nausea, light headedness, breathlessness, trembling, “out of control”
A good starting dose is 10 mg taken twice daily. Make sure you take it in the morning and early afternoon. That’s when your body will respond to it the best. Review 7-10 days and increase the dose up to 20mg bd x 7-10 days.
If there is still no response, then something is being missed. This might be a thyroid deficiency, or perhaps a vitamin deficiency
If you do improve, then continue replacing the hormone while correcting the stressors that caused the depletion. About half of the people that need hydrocortisone will be able to stop it after two to three months of treatment. This is because, in many cases, the combination of taking the hormone and reducing the stress load will enable your adrenal glands to renew themselves.
However, many people have adrenals that were just not built for all of the stressors that they face in this modern world we live in. This is especially true in the case of severe allergies. In these cases, you’ll need hydrocortisone treatment on a continuous basis. Use the lowest dose of hydrocortisone that you need to feel great, and have your doctor check your fasting ACTH level. As long as it is greater than 10 pg/ml, you are in a good range.

Back pain
Prolozone
Magnesium oil
Vitamin D supplements
Low back pain in men is almost 100% a problem in the lower back.
But low back pain in women is often not caused by a problem in the back, but by problems in the internal pelvic ligaments- “my back hurts, and I also feel discomfort in my hips,” or “my back pain is worse during my period,” or “it started to bother me after a child birth,” that’s a tip-off that it’s referred pain from the pelvis.
Other cause need to consider : different leg lengths- apply lift or custom orthotics for arch support problem.

The use of Magnesium
1. Relaxes the muscles, including the heart;
2. Works in concert with enzymes to carry out metabolic functions, including protein synthesis, energy production and neuromuscular function;
3. Used for anxiety,
4. high blood pressure,
5. poor sleep,
6. asthma attacks,
7. menstrual and muscle cramps/weakness

MAGNESIUM CHLORIDE
for Health & Rejuvenation
by Walter Last
Magnesium is nothing short of a miracle mineral in its healing effect on a wide range of diseases as well as in its ability to rejuvenate the aging body. We know that it is essential for many enzyme reactions, especially in regard to cellular energy production, for the health of the brain and nervous system and also for healthy teeth and bones. However, it may come as a surprise that in the form of magnesium chloride it is also an impressive infection fighter.
The first prominent researcher to investigate and promote the antibiotic effects of magnesium was a French surgeon, Prof. Pierre Delbet MD. In 1915 he was looking for a solution to cleanse wounds of soldiers, because he found that traditionally used antiseptics actually damaged tissues and encouraged infections instead of preventing them. In all his tests magnesium chloride solution was by far the best. Not only was it harmless for tissues, but it also greatly increased leucocyte activity and phagocytosis, the destruction of microbes.
Later Prof. Delbet also performed experiments with the internal applications of magnesium chloride and found it to be a powerful immune-stimulant. In his experiments phagocytosis increased by up to 333%. This means after magnesium chloride intake the same number of white blood cells destroyed up to three times more microbes than beforehand.
Gradually Prof. Delbet found magnesium chloride to be beneficial in a wide range of diseases. These included diseases of the digestive tract such as colitis and gall bladder problems, Parkinson's disease, tremors and muscle cramps; acne, eczema, psoriasis, warts and itching skin; impotence, prostatic hypertrophy, cerebral and circulatory problems; asthma, hay fever, urticaria and anaphylactic reactions. Hair and nails became stronger and healthier and patients had more energy.
Prof. Delbet also found a very good preventative effect on cancer and cured precancerous conditions such as leukoplasia, hyperkeratosis and chronic mastitis. Epidemiological studies confirmed that regions with magnesium-rich soil had less cancer than those with low magnesium levels.
Another French doctor, A. Neveu, cured several diphtheria patients with magnesium chloride within two days. He also published 15 cases of poliomyelitis that were cured within days if treatment was started immediately, or within months if paralysis had already progressed. Neveu also found magnesium chloride effective with asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia and emphysema; pharyngitis, tonsillitis, hoarseness, common cold, influenza, whooping cough, measles, rubella, mumps, scarlet fever; poisoning, gastro-enteritis, boils, abscesses, whitlow, infected wounds and osteomyelitis.
In more recent years Dr Vergini and others have confirmed these earlier results and have added more diseases to the list of successful uses: acute asthma attacks, shock, tetanus, herpes zoster, acute and chronic conjunctivitis, optic neuritis, rheumatic diseases, many allergic diseases, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and beneficial effects in cancer therapy. In all of these cases magnesium chloride had been used and gave much better results than other magnesium compounds.
Magnesium for Nerves
Magnesium has a calming effect on the nervous system. With this, it is frequently used to promote good sleep. But more importantly, it can be used to calm irritated and over-excited nerves. This is especially useful with epileptic seizures, convulsions in pregnant women and the 'shakes' in alcoholism. Magnesium levels are generally low in alcoholics, contributing or causing many of their health problems. If magnesium levels are low, the nerves lose control over muscle activity, respiration and mental processes. Nervous fatigue, tics and twitches, tremors, irritability, hypersensitivity, muscle spasms, restlessness, anxiety, confusion, disorientation and irregular heartbeat all respond to increased magnesium levels. A common phenomenon of magnesium deficiency is a sharp muscle reaction to an unexpected loud noise. 'Memory pills' have been marketed that consist mainly of magnesium.
Many of the symptoms of Parkinson's disease can be overcome with high magnesium supplementation, shaking can be prevented and rigidity eased. With preeclampsia pregnant women may develop convulsions, nausea, dizziness and headaches. In hospitals this is treated with magnesium infusions. Because of its strong relaxing effect, magnesium helps not only to have a better sleep but is also useful in overcoming headaches and migraines. Even the number of suicides are linked to magnesium deficiency. The lower the magnesium content in soil and water in a given region, the higher are the rates of suicides.
Epilepsy is marked by abnormally low magnesium levels in the blood, spinal fluid and brain, causing hyperexcitability in regions of the brain. There are many reported causes of epilepsy greatly improving or disappearing with magnesium supplementation. In a trial with 30 epileptics 450 mg of magnesium supplied daily successfully controlled seizures. Another study found that the lower the magnesium blood levels the more severe was the epilepsy. In most cases magnesium works best in combination with vitamin B6 and zinc. In sufficient concentrations, magnesium inhibits convulsions by limiting or slowing the spread of the electric discharge from an isolated group of brain cells to the rest of the brain. Animal studies show that even the initial burst of firing nerve cells that starts an epileptic attack can be suppressed with magnesium.
Magnesium for the Heart
Adequate levels of magnesium are essential for the heart muscle. Those who die from heart attacks have very low magnesium but high calcium levels in their heart muscles. Patients with coronary heart disease who have been treated with large amounts of magnesium survived better than those with drug treatment. Magnesium dilates the arteries of the heart and lowers cholesterol and fat levels.
High calcium levels, on the other hand, constrict the heart arteries and increase the risk of heart attacks. Calcium deposits in the walls of the arteries contribute to the development of arteriosclerosis. The arteries become hard and rigid, thereby restricting the blood flow and causing high blood pressure. In addition, such inelastic blood vessels may easily rapture and cause strokes. Countries with the highest calcium to magnesium ratios (high calcium and low magnesium levels) in soil and water have the highest incidence of cardiovascular disease. At the top of the list is Australia.
Worldwide the intake of magnesium has been lowered and that of calcium increased because of the heavy use of fertilisers high in calcium and low in magnesium. With this, the intake of magnesium from our food has steadily declined in the last fifty years, while the use of calcium-rich fertilisers and cardiovascular disease have greatly increased at the same time.
Diabetics are prone to atherosclerosis, fatty degeneration of the liver and heart disease. Diabetics have low magnesium tissue levels. They often develop eye problems - retinopathy. Diabetics with the lowest magnesium levels had the most severe retinopathy. The lower the magnesium content of their water, the higher is the death rate of diabetics from cardiovascular disease. In an American study the death rate due to diabetes was four times higher in areas with low magnesium water levels as compared to areas with high levels of magnesium in the water.
Magnesium for Healthy Bones & Teeth
Medical authorities claim that the widespread incidence of osteoporosis and tooth decay in western countries can be prevented with a high calcium intake. However, published evidence reveals that the opposite is true. Asian and African populations with a very low intake of about 300 mg of calcium daily have very little osteoporosis. Bantu women with an intake of 200 to 300 mg of calcium daily have the lowest incidence of osteoporosis in the world. In western countries with a high intake of dairy products the average calcium intake is about 1000 mg. The higher the calcium intake, especially in the form of cows' milk products (except butter) the higher the incidence of osteoporosis.
Calcium, magnesium and phosphorus levels are kept in a seesaw balance by the parathyroid hormones. If calcium goes up, magnesium goes down and vice versa. With a low magnesium intake, calcium goes out of the bones to increase tissue levels, while a high magnesium intake causes calcium to go out of the tissues into the bones. A high phosphorus intake without a high calcium or magnesium intake causes calcium to leach from the bones and leave the body with the urine. A high phosphorus intake with high calcium and magnesium leads to bone mineralisation.
Dr Barnett, an orthopaedic surgeon practised in two different U.S. Counties with very different soil and water mineral levels. In Dallas County with a high calcium and low magnesium concentration osteoporosis and hip fractures were very common, while in Hereford with high magnesium and low calcium these were nearly absent. In Dallas County the magnesium content of bones was 0.5% while in Hereford it was 1.76%. In another comparison the magnesium content in bones of osteoporosis sufferers was 0.62% while in healthy individuals it was 1.26%.
The same applies for healthy teeth. In a New Zealand study it was found that caries-resistant teeth had on average twice the amount of magnesium as caries-prone teeth. The average concentration of magnesium phosphate in bones is given as about 1%, in teeth about 1.5%, in elephant tusks 2% and in the teeth of carnivorous animals made to crush bones it is 5%. In regard to the strength of bones and teeth think of calcium as chalk and of magnesium as superglue. The magnesium superglue binds and transforms the chalk into superior bones and teeth.
Cancer and Aging
Many studies have shown an increased cancer rate in regions with low magnesium levels in soil and drinking water. In Egypt the cancer rate was only about 10% of that in Europe and America. In the rural fellah it was practically non-existent. The main difference was an extremely high magnesium intake of 2.5 to 3 g in these cancer-free populations, ten times more than in most western countries.
Dr Seeger and Dr Budwig in Germany have shown that cancer is mainly the result of a faulty energy metabolism in the powerhouses of the cells, the mitochondria. A similar decline in energy production takes place when we age. The great majority of enzymes involved in the production of energy require magnesium. A healthy cell has high magnesium and low calcium levels. Up to 30% of the energy of cells is used to pump calcium out of the cells. The higher the calcium level and the lower the magnesium level in the extra-cellular fluid, the harder is it for cells to pump the calcium out. The result is that with low magnesium levels the mitochondria gradually calcify and energy production decreases. We may say that our biochemical age is determined by the ratio of magnesium to calcium within our cells. Test with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome showed that magnesium supplementation resulted in better energy levels.
We use our muscles by selectively contracting them. On the biochemical level muscle contraction is triggered by calcium ions flowing into muscle cells. To relax the muscle calcium is pumped out again. However, as we age, more and more calcium remains trapped in the muscles and these become more or less permanently contracted, leading to increasing muscle tension and spasms. Together with calcification of the joints, this is the typical rigidity and inflexibility of old age. The higher our intake of calcium relative to magnesium, the faster do we calcify and age. Most of the excess calcium in our diet ends up in our soft tissues and around joints leading to calcification with arthritic deformations, arteriosclerosis, cataracts, kidney stones and senility. Dr Seyle proved experimentally that biochemical stress can lead to the pathological calcification of almost any organ. The more stress, the more calcification, the more rapid the aging.
The Rejuvenation Mineral
In addition to its anti-microbial and immune-stimulating properties, both magnesium as well as chloride have other important functions in keeping us young and healthy. Chloride, of course, is required to produce a large quantity of gastric acid each day and is also needed to stimulate starch-digesting enzymes. Magnesium is the mineral of rejuvenation and prevents the calcification of our organs and tissues that is characteristic of the old-age related degeneration of our body.
Using other magnesium salts is less advantageous because these have to be converted into chlorides in the body anyway. We may use magnesium as oxide or carbonate but then we need to produce additional hydrochloric acid to absorb them. Many aging individuals, especially with chronic diseases who desperately need more magnesium cannot produce sufficient hydrochloric acid and then cannot absorb the oxide or carbonate. Epsom salt is magnesium sulphate. It is soluble but not well absorbed and acts mainly as a laxative. Chelated magnesium is well absorbed but much more expensive and lacks the beneficial contribution of the chloride ions. Orotates are good but very expensive for the amount of magnesium that they provide and both orotates and chelates seem to lack the infection-fighting potential of the magnesium chloride.
Calcium and magnesium are opposites in their effects on our body structure. As a general rule, the softer our body structure the more we need calcium, while the more rigid and inflexible it is, the less calcium and the more magnesium we need. Magnesium can reverse the age-related degenerative calcification of our body structure and with this help us to rejuvenate.
Young women, children and most of all babies have soft body structures and smooth skin with low calcium and high magnesium levels in their cells and soft tissues. They generally need high calcium intakes. This is the biochemistry of youth. As we age and most pronounced in old men and post-menopausal women, we become more and more inflexible. The arteries harden to cause arteriosclerosis, the skeletal system calcifies to cause rigidity with fusion of the spine and joints, kidneys and other organs and glands increasingly calcify and harden with stone formation, calcification in the eyes causes cataracts and even the skin hardens, becoming tough and wrinkled. In this way calcium is in the same league as oxygen and free radicals, while magnesium works together with hydrogen and the antioxidants to keep our body structure soft.
A gynaecologist reported that one of the first organs to calcify are the ovaries, leading to pre-menstrual tension. When he put his patients on a high magnesium intake their PMT vanished and they felt and looked much younger. Most of these women said that they lost weight, increased their energy, felt less depressed and enjoyed sex again much more than before. For men it is equally beneficial for problems arising from an enlarged prostate gland. Symptoms commonly improve after a period of supplementation with magnesium chloride.
Increased magnesium intake has also been shown to be an effective way to prevent or dissolve kidney stones and gall bladder stones, the latter best in combination with a high lecithin intake. Activation of digestive enzymes and bile production as well as helping to restore a healthy intestinal flora may be the factors that make magnesium chloride so beneficial in normalising our digestive processes, reducing any digestive discomfort, bloating and offensive stool odours. This is in line with a reduction of all offensive body odours, including underarm and foot odour.
Prof. Delbet used to give magnesium chloride solution routinely to his patients with infections and for several days before any planned surgery and was surprised by many of these patients experiencing euphoria and bursts of energy. Magnesium chloride supposedly has a specific action on the tetanus virus and its effects on the body. It even seems to be protective against snakebites. Guinea pigs did not die after normally lethal injections of snake venom and a rabbit survived a poisonous snakebite when given magnesium chloride solution.
In addition to being the most essential mineral in our cellular energy production, magnesium is also needed for the ingested B-vitamins to become metabolically active. Magnesium is also essential for the synthesis of nucleic acids, for cell division to occur, for DNA and RNA synthesis of our genetic material, for protein as well as fatty acid synthesis. Unfortunately magnesium deficiency at a cellular level where it counts is not easy to diagnose, as serum magnesium levels do not correlate to muscle or cellular magnesium levels. Instead of trying difficult tissue magnesium analysis to find out if your health problems may be due to low magnesium levels, it is much easier and more effective just to take more magnesium and see what happens.
Researchers at the Lille Pasteur Institute found in a prospective study with over 4,000 men over an 18-year follow up period that high levels of magnesium were associated with a 50 percent decrease in cancer mortality, and a 40 percent decrease in cardiovascular and all-cause mortality ("Zinc, Copper and Magnesium and Risks for All-Cause Cancer, and Cardiovascular Mortality" Epidemiology, Vol. 17, No. 3, May 2006, epidem.com).
Rejuvenation by ingesting more magnesium is a slow process, especially as the amount of magnesium that we can take is limited by its laxative effect and the need to keep it in a reasonable balance with the calcium and phosphorus intake. The other problem is that spastic muscles have a poor blood and lymph circulation, which makes it difficult for the ingested magnesium to dissolve and flush out the tissue and joint calcifications. Therefore, we can greatly speed up the rejuvenation process by increasing the circulation through permanently contracted muscles as with deep tissue massage, hot and cold water applications, relaxation exercises, lymphasising as well as packs and rubs with magnesium chloride or Epsom salts.
How much?
Hydrated magnesium chloride contains about 120 mg of magnesium per gram or 600 mg per rounded teaspoon. It has a somewhat bitter-salty taste and a mildly laxative effect. To improve or maintain your health you may use up to 600 mg of magnesium daily in divided doses with meals, well diluted in a drink or mixed with food.
With raised blood pressure, calcifications and other symptoms of magnesium deficiency you may use 600 mg orally in addition to any transdermal application of magnesium oil for arthritis or muscle relaxation. With low blood pressure you may use about 300 mg of magnesium daily in addition to some extra calcium. As a source of calcium you may dissolve some self-made eggshell powder in citrus juice or vinegar. Actual amounts are not important as the body absorbs only as much as it needs.
For daily use it will be more convenient to dissolve the magnesium chloride in water. You may dissolve 10 lightly rounded teaspoons of the crystals in a medium size glass of water or, more accurately, 50g in 150 ml of water. Decant and discard any undissolved residue. One teaspoon of this solution three times daily with food or drink provides a daily intake of about 600 mg of magnesium. Alternatively you may fill a jar half full with magnesium chloride flakes and then to the top with water. This provides similar amounts of magnesium.
Individuals with very sensitive taste buds may start using it in tiny amounts mixed with strongly flavoured food and increase doses very gradually. You may start adding one drop to a glass of water or mixed with a meal. If that is alright, then next time add two drops, and then three until it starts tasting unpleasant. Cut back temporarily, but after another week or two you may not taste it anymore and you can start adding further drops until you reach the desired intake. I had many people complaining that they cannot use it because they had started taking it in too high a dose or too concentrated.
While for some conditions it can be helpful to take a larger amount and wash it down with a drink, you need to be careful as this can easily upset the stomach. For everyday use I recommend adding it in small amounts to food and drink so that it is present in amounts that would be normally present in water and food with a high mineral content. It definitely should not taste unpleasant, and in most cases the actual amount used every day is not that important.
This same solution may also be used as a pack over tumours and infected, inflamed, painful, stiff or calcified joints, muscles, adhesions or scar tissue. It is also excellent to use a weak solution as a back rub and all over the body to relax tense muscles anywhere and even to rejuvenate ageing skin. For sensitive skin use it in a strongly diluted form. On wounds it was commonly used in a 4% solution that is 4 g or a level teaspoon in 100 ml or a small glass of water.
With acute infections dissolve 40 g or 8 slightly rounded teaspoons in 1 liter of water. With children commonly a small glassful or 125 ml has been used every 6 hours. Adults may double this dose by drinking this amount every 3 hours or even more until diarrhoea develops and then cut back to a maintenance intake just below the level of diarrhoea until the infection has cleared. If you have sensitive taste buds the taste may be rather unpleasant in this concentrated form. Therefore try to drink it in one gulp while pinching your nose and quickly drink something pleasant afterwards.
For general relaxation as well as for back pain and arthritic or muscle pain and stiffness either magnesium chloride or Epsom salts may be used. Both are excellent to soak in a hot bath with the addition of up to 1 kg of magnesium salts. Also hot magnesium salt packs may be used over stiff or painful muscles and joints. Keep warm for one to two hours with a hot water bottle.
There is also a non-hydrated or desiccated magnesium chloride available; it contains approximately twice as much magnesium as the hydrated product. If using this then just half the amounts indicated above. It is now also available in tablet form but more expensive.
Instead of magnesium chloride, you may use the brine from the production of sea salt. It has the advantage of having more trace minerals than the technical magnesium chloride, but due to its high content of magnesium sulphate it is also rather bitter. While magnesium chloride does have a laxative effect, magnesium sulphate or Epsom salts is much better suitable if used purely as a laxative because it is less well absorbed and therefore attracts more water into the intestines.
While a higher magnesium intake is beneficial for most individuals, those with low blood pressure usually require more calcium in addition. Normal blood pressure is about 120/80; the lower it is the higher should be the daily intake of calcium. While those with high blood pressure may benefit from ingesting up to twice as much magnesium as calcium, those with low blood pressure may take twice as much calcium as magnesium, but both minerals in relatively high amounts. Those with low blood pressure and a tendency towards inflammations may also reduce their intake of phosphorus. A high level of phosphorus in the blood tends to cause magnesium and calcium levels to be low.
Normally a good diet should provide all necessary vitamins and minerals. Presently supplementation is often indicated because of malabsorption, poor dietary choices, metabolic defects, and specific diseases. Also some drugs, such as diuretic and antibiotics may cause magnesium deficiency. When supplementing with magnesium or other vitamins and minerals, the balance with related nutrients, such as calcium and phosphorus, and also the fluid intake, are usually more important than the absolute intake of magnesium or any other single nutrient. If in doubt consult a qualified health professional.
For supplies of magnesium chloride in Australia see Resources. For adding large amounts to bath water you may try to obtain hydrated magnesium chloride in 25 kg bulk quantities from companies that supply agricultural and water chemicals. Commonly it originates from evaporated seawater and especially from the Dead Sea.
Magnesium Oil is a concentrated and nearly saturated solution of magnesium chloride in water. It is called “oil” because of the smooth oily feeling when rubbed onto the skin. Magnesium is relatively easily absorbed through the skin, and in this way is an effective way to relax tense muscles and improve arthritic joint problems. It is especially good for low back pain. In addition to skin rubs you may also use hot packs with cloths soaked in magnesium oil.
For more information on magnesium oil see www.health-science-spirit.com/MagOil.htm. An excellent book on the external use of magnesium oil is Transdermal Magnesium Therapy by Mark Sircus. For a supply of magnesium oil in Australia based on magnesium chloride from the Dead Sea see www.strideintohealth.com, while www.magneticclay.com in the USA distribute magnesium oil from ‘Ancient Minerals’.
CAUTION: Magnesium supplementation should be avoided with severe kidney problems (severe renal insufficiency when on dialysis), and also with myasthenia gravis. Be careful with severe adrenal weakness or with low blood pressure. Too much magnesium can cause muscle weakness, if this happens temporarily use more calcium. Signs of excess magnesium (hypermagnesia) can be similar to magnesium deficiency and include changes in mental status, nausea, diarrhoea, appetite loss, muscle weakness, difficulty breathing, extremely low blood pressure, and irregular heartbeat.
MAGNESIUM PROFILE
Magnesium is mainly found inside the cells, it activates many enzymes and is necessary for the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and amino acids. It is essential for the functions of muscles and nerves and for the formation of bones and teeth. Generally it counteracts and regulates the influence of calcium.
Some early signs of magnesium deficiency are loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, and weakness. Increased deficiency may show as numbness, tingling, muscle contractions and cramps, seizures, personality changes, abnormal heart rhythms, and coronary spasms. Severe deficiency results in low levels of calcium in the blood (hypocalcemia), and is also associated with low levels of potassium in the blood (hypokalemia).
Deficiency Symptoms & Increased Requirements:
CIRCULATION: angina, arteriosclerosis/atherosclerosis, diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, heart infarcts, , strokes, tachycardia (fast pulse), thrombosis.
DIGESTIVE SYSTEM: colic, constipation, chronic diarrhoea, malabsorption, pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas).
MUSCLES: backache, convulsions, cramps, increased excitability/jumpiness, numbness, nystagmus (rapid eye movements), spasms, tense/tight muscles, tingling, tremors.
NERVOUS SYSTEM: apathy, confusion, depression, disorientation, epilepsy, hallucinations, irritability, mental illness, multiple sclerosis, nervousness, neuritis paranoia, Parkinson's disease, poor memory, senility.
GENERAL: alcoholism, arthritis, body odours, broken bones, calcification in any organ, cancer, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, diabetes, eclampsia, headaches, infections and inflammations, liver cirrhosis, lupus erythematosus, migraines, old age, prostate problems, rickets, rigidity - mental and physical, skin wrinkled and tough, stiffness, stone-formation in gall bladder or kidneys, thyroid overactive.

by Walter Last
Magnesium is nothing short of a miracle mineral in its healing effect on a wide range of diseases as well as in its ability to rejuvenate the aging body.

Water
HOW DO YOU GET DEHYDRATED?
Through activities of daily living, the average person loses about 3- 4 liters (about 10-15 cups) of fluid a day in sweat, urine, exhaled air and bowel movement. What is lost must be replaced by the water/ fluid we drink and the food we eat.
We lose approximately 1-2 liters of water just from breathing. The evaporation of sweat from the skin accounts for 90% of our cooling ability.
Exercise, sweating, diarrhea, temperature, or altitude can significantly increase the amount of water we lose each day. The most common cause of increased water loss is exercise and sweating. Even though we are all at risk of dehydration the people most vulnerable are infants, elderly adults, and athletes. They are either not able to adequately express their thirst sensation or able to detect it and do something in time.
HOW DO YOU KNOW IF YOU’RE DEHYDRATED?
If you are thirsty, it means your cells are already dehydrated. A dry mouth should be regarded as the last outward sign of dehydration. That’s because thirst does not develop until body fluids are depleted well bellow levels required for optimal functioning.
Monitor your urine to make sure you are not dehydrated:
* A hydrated body produces clear, colorless urine.
* A somewhat dehydrated body produces yellow urine.
* A severely dehydrated body produces orange or dark-colored urine.
The effects of even mild dehydration include decreased coordination, fatigue, dry skin, decreased urine output, dry mucous membranes in the mouth and nose, blood pressure changes and impairment of judgment. Stress, headache, back pain, allergies, asthma, high blood pressure and many degenerative health problems are the result of UCD (Unintentional Chronic Dehydration).
HOW MUCH WATER DO YOU NEED TO DRINK? WHEN TO DRINK?
To better determine how much water you need each day, divide your body weight in half. The answer is the approximate number of water ounces you should drink daily. You should drink half of your body weight in ounces. If you weight 200 pounds, you should drink 100 ounces water (3.13 quarts, 2.98 liters or about 10-12 cups of water a day). If you weigh closer to 100 pounds you will need only about 50 ounces of water or about four 12-ounce glasses daily.
Individuals who are physically active or live in hot climates may needs to drink more.
WHAT SHOULD WE DRINK? WHAT SHOULDN’T WE DRINK?
We are designed to drink pure, natural water.
* Avoiding sodas/soft drinks to provide your fluid needs. The high sugar content and artificial flavors in soft drinks are harmful to your health.
* Tea, coffee, soft drinks contain water, but the diuretics contained in these caffineated beverages flush water out of your body. Don’t count on them to replenish fluid loss.
* It is OK to drink them occasionally, but if you drink them constantly and don’t drink enough pure natural water, then you are severely compromising your long-term health.
* Natural pure water is the best choice. If you are committed to a healthy lifestyle and long-term health, make water a habit and a priority in your life.
CAN WE DRINK TOO MUCH WATER?
During intense exercise the kidneys cannot excrete excess water. The extra water moves into the cells, including brain cells. The result can be fatal. For that reason, athletes should estimate how much they should drink by weighing themselves before and after long training runs to see how much they lose, and thus how much water and salt they should replace.
The studies that found 13% of the runners tested drank too much water, resulting in abnormally low blood sodium levels. The low sodium levels made many of these people very sick, and close to the point of death. The importance lesson here is to balance your water intake with your sodium intake.
HOW DO YOU KNOW IF YOUR TAP WATER IS SAFE TO DRINK?
Almost all-municipal water in is of high quality and very drinkable. The best source of specific information about the water quality in your area is your local water supplier. Water suppliers are required to send their customer an annual water quality report. Contact your water supplier to get a copy, or see if your report is posted on line.
It is important you know your local sources of water quality, and the quality of your local drinking water. To get facts and information about your tap water, drinking water standards and contaminants, contact your local water supplier. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and American Water Works Association (AWWA) are the two credible institutions that provide information you need regarding quality of your water.
EPA website www.epa.gov/safewater AWWA website: www.awwa.org.
WHAT ABOUT BOTTLED WATER?
Bottled water’s biggest advantage is convenience. The Americans now drink more water from bottles than any other nation. Bottled water in is a $16 billion-a-year industry.
EPA sets standards for tap water provided by public water systems. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) sets bottled water standards based on EPA’s tap water standards. Most bottled water is simply tap water put through conditioning filters to make it taste better. Pepsi’s Aquafina and Coco-Cola Co’s Dasani are both made from purified tap water. This doesn’t make it bad, but is something to consider when adding up cost and benefits.
Bottled water is safe to drink if it meets the standards. Contrary to popular belief the FDA does not carefully regulate the bottled water industry; therefore even bottled water can be impure unless it is the right kind of water. There are indeed many right kinds of high-quality bottled water that come from great natural water sources, such as spring, glacier, mineral water. High-quality bottled water may be a desirable option for people with special health needs and those who can afford the price.
Just make sure your choice of water does not become a limiting factor to drinking it. If you are drinking less water because of the cost of bottled water, supplement your bottles with reusable bottles or just fill up a previously used bottle with H20 from the tap.
WHAT ABOUT FILTER AND FILTERED WATER?
It is always wise to get a filter if you are not sure how safe your tap water is.
There are many water filter products on the market at many different prices. To shop for a good filter, you need to know what a filter factually reduces, or removes, and what it costs. Ideally, you want water that has been filtered via a reverse osmosis process that removes chemicals, pesticides, heavy metals, chlorine, fluoride, bacteria, and viruses.
How do you choose a good filter? It is important you do your own research – ask your local health food store, do on-line research and check the Consumers’ Report for products and prices evaluations. We are not in the business of selling water or any water products; however, here are a couple of recommended sources:

DRINKING TIPS FOR HEALTHY HYDRATION:
Start your morning’s right: Morning is when you are most full of toxin and dehydrated. Reach for a big glass of water first thing in the morning – even before coffee. This water in the morning really gets the blood flowing.
-Drink a glass of water when you get up and another when you go to bed.
-Take regular water break breaks.
-Avoid relying on sodas to provide your fluid need.
-Drink water before and after food; ideally drink a glass of water half an hour before you eat your meal and half an hour after the meal. You can drink water with meals, and drink water anytime your body feels like it.
*It is very important you balance your sodium intake with your water consumption. Take 1/4 teaspoon of salt per quart of water - every 4-5 glasses of water. Be sure to get sea salt. The best is Celtic sea salt or Himalayan sea salt, both of which are readily available at any health food store.
You should always drink water prior to eating, and after eating, to support the digestive process. The stomach depends on water to help digest food, and lack of water makes it harder for nutrients to be broken down and used as energy. The liver, which dictates where all nutrients go, also needs water to help convert stored fat into usable energy. If you are dehydrated, the kidneys turn to the liver for backup, diminishing the liver’s ability to metabolize stored fat. The resulting reduced blood volume will interfere with your body’s ability to remove toxins and supply your cells with adequate nutrients.
Keep a water bottle by your side at all the times. Use either bottled water or tap water, and carry it with you everywhere, to the gym, in your car, to your office. Start by adding water to your daily regiment, during the first week, and then incorporate more as needed. The point is not to wait until you’re thirsty to drink.
Keep water flowing before, during and after workout. Don’t forget to balance your water intake with sodium intake. Drink at least 1 liter of water for every 60 minutes of exercise. Drink more if it’s hot. During exercise, such as playing sport on a hot summer day, you can lose up to 2 liters per hour of fluid per hour. Water and a balance salt is your best bet to keep healthy and hydrated. During exercise, it is recommended to replenish fluid at least every 20 minutes.

General health
Lugol's Iodine Solution is a safe & effective way to provide adequate amounts of iodine for proper thyroid hormone production, responsible for our metabolic rate, normal growth & development, protein, carbohydrate & fat metabolism amongst other things.
Use the product links to the right for information and purchases.
Lugol's Iodine Solution
In 1924, in an effort to decrease the high incidence of iodine deficiency, iodine was added to table salt, a substance that was already in wide use.
The most well known manifestation of chronic long-term iodine deficiency is goitre, an enlargement of the thyroid gland. This condition develops when the thyroid gland does not have enough iodine to manufacture thyroid hormones. As the gland increases its cell size to try and capture more iodine, its overall size increases, creating the characteristic goitre swelling in the neck.
Suboptimal iodine intake is still considered to be a major problem in many parts of New Zealand.
History of Lugol's Iodine
In 1880 a French physician, named Lugol, originated a solution, which contains 5% of elemental iodine in a 10% solution of potassium iodide. It has been used steadily ever since it was originated. Lugol's iodine is a form of elemental iodine, which may be helpful in hypothyroidism and goitre caused by insufficient iodine intake. It has also been reported to assist with other hypothyroidism symptoms such as:
Fatigue
Sluggishness
Weight gain
Coldness of the body's extremities
What is the benefit of using iodine?
Your thyroid (located at the frontal base of the neck) is the key gland that furnishes energy to every cell in your body. Its function is dependent on a balance of nutrients and trace minerals. These include zinc, copper, manganese and especially iodine.
Iodine is an essential nutrient that is needed for the production of the body's thyroid hormones and is therefore required for normal thyroid function. Thyroid hormones are responsible for our basal metabolic rate (BMR), which reflects the body's use of energy.
As well as this, they are needed for:
Normal growth and development
Protein synthesis
Cholesterol synthesis
Carbohydrate absorption
Energy metabolism
Nerve and bone formation
Reproduction
The condition of the skin, hair, nails and teeth
Speech and mental state
Research has also shown that iodine may be effective in the prevention of fibrocystic breast discomfort.
What happens if you do not have enough iodine in your body?
Iodine deficiency is thought to increase the risk of certain cancers, such as those of the breast, ovary and uterus. Iodine levels may also be low in people with fibrocystic breast problems. Iodine supplementation may help prevent oestrogen from binding to breast cell receptors and may reduce symptoms of breast swelling and pain.
The thyroid gland does not function well in the absence of adequate iodine and trace minerals. Applying tincture of iodine to your skin is the most efficient (as well as most economical) method of determining a metabolic deficiency of iodine. It acts as a test, as well as a treatment.
Iodine and breast tissue problems
The theory is that an absence of iodine renders the tissue more sensitive to oestrogen stimulation. This hypersensitivity can produce excess secretions, over the limit of absorption, thus distending the breast ducts to produce small cysts and later fibrosis (hardening of the tissue due to the deposition of fibrin, similar to the formation of scar tissue).
Assessment of iodine deficiency has shown that 70% of women may experience softening of the breast tissue and reduction in hardened tissue after using iodine appropriately.
To address iodine deficiency
Dietary sources
Sea vegetables, including seaweeds like kelp and wakame or kombu are nature's richest sources of iodine.
Celtic sea salt contains a balance of a number of minerals, including naturally occurring iodine.
How does Lugol's Iodine work?
You can use this in 2 ways:
(1) As an external application or
(2) In a drink
Do not use both - choose one or the other.
If the brown stain fades in 24 hours (or less), it indicates that iodine is likely to be insufficient to normalize thyroid hormone production. Even if you are taking thyroid hormone orally, lack of iodine can prevent your body functioning properly.
By following these instructions, when the faded brown stain is apparent after 24 hours, your thyroid will be able to function more normally.
If you are taking thyroid hormone orally, you may be able to reduce the dosage immediately or over a period of several months, or eventually stop taking it altogether. Please seek advice to do this.
Methods of application
Use a brush or the glass dropper to apply the Lugol's Iodine solution to your upper thigh or lower abdomen in a 3" square patch.
Apply as often as you notice that the iodine has absorbed and the skin is clear. For instance, if absorption occurs in 2 hours, reapply then, if it occurs in 4 to 6 or 8 or 12 hours, reapply whenever you notice that the skin is clear.
The objective of the frequent applications is to accomplish the 24-hour slight stain as quickly as possible, rather than to have to continue applying over several months time. When you eventually notice a faded brown stain after 12 hours, check in another 12 hours for the stain. If your skin is clear after 24 hours, continue application once a day until the stain is apparent after 24 hours. When the faded stain is visible after 24 hours, discontinue with the application, as it is an indication that your iodine levels are normal.
You could also take this in a drink form. Do not use both methods - use one or the other. An internal dosage of Lugol's iodine is generally 1 or 2 drops in a glass of fruit juice, sipped throughout the course of a meal. This dosage depends on your body weight. As a guideline, if you weigh 60kg or less, the recommended amount is 1 drop, taken daily in a meal. If you weigh more than 60kg, the recommended dose is 2 drops instead of one.
Re-check iodine absorption once per month. Repeat the process as above, if it fades in 24 hours or less.
Caution: DO NOT use Lugol's Iodine solution if you have an overactive thyroid or hyperthyroidism.
Iodine treatment is for an under active thyroid gland only.
If in doubt, please get your thyroid hormone levels checked before using this.
Please note that there are indications when sufficient iodine has been taken. If the body is saturated with iodine, you will find that within 0.5 to 1.5 hours of taking the iodine containing drink, there will be a release of moisture from the nose. If this occurs, stop dosing for a period of 1 month.
Warning: Ten drops of Lugol's Iodine solution represents more iodine than is contained in body stores. Excessive or continued use of this concentrated form of iodine may cause hyperthyroidism, if appropriate dosing is not undertaken. Take ONLY as directed and dose according to your symptoms.

Sx of iodine deficiency
1. GOITRE
2. HYPOTHYROIDISM
When thyroid hormone levels are too low, the body’s cells can’t get enough thyroid hormone and the body’s processes start slowing down.
As the body slows, you may notice that
1. you feel colder,
2. you tire more easily,
3. your skin is getting drier,
4. you’re becoming forgetful and depressed, and
5. you’ve started getting constipated.
3. PREGNANCY RELATED problems - miscarriages, stillbirth, preterm delivery, and congenital abnormalities in their babies.
4. Iodine stabilizes the heart rhythm, lowers serum cholesterol, lowers blood pressure, and is known to make the blood thinner as well- Iodine vital to the heart.
5. Iodine chelates heavy metals such as mercury, lead, cadmium and aluminum and halogens such as fluoride and bromide.
6. Every pregnant woman should be using iodine and magnesium chloride applied transdermally to initiate protective action from even before conception.
7. Iodine supplementation will gradually eliminate the first phase of the cancer development in the breasts (fibrocystic disease) so no new cancers can start. It also will kill abnormal cells floating around in the body at remote sites from the original cancer. This approach appears to work for prostate cancer as prostate cancer is similar to breast cancer in many respects.
8. Iodine into a nebulizer for aerosol treatment for transdermal effect into the lung tissues in the case of lung cancer, emphysema, asthma and tuberculosis.
9. The mind simply works better when the body is supplied the iodine it
needs and studies do show that iodine deficiency leads to decline in IQ.
10. The treatment dose when a person is iodine insufficient is generally between 12.5 mg and 50 mg daily. Preliminary research indicates that if a person is iodine insufficient, it takes about 3 months to become iodine sufficient while ingesting a dosage of 50 mg of iodine and a year to become iodine sufficient while ingesting a dosage of 12.5 mg of iodine daily. However, the patient needs to be monitored closely with awareness of possible side effects and detoxification reactions
11. For fever and infection including viral flu up to 15-20 drops per day.
12. Dosage of Lugol's iodine : six to eight drops of Lugol’s solution four times a day.
13. Iodine is needed in microgram amounts for the thyroid,
mg amounts for breast and other tissues, and can
be used therapeutically in gram amounts
How to Self-Test for an Iodine Deficiency
1. Dip a cotton ball into USP Tincture of Iodine. (You can get iodine at the drugstore for under $1.)
2. Paint a 2 inch circle of iodine on your soft skin, like the inner part of your thigh or upper arm.
3. Wait. -- If the yellowish stain disappears in less than an hour; it means your body is lacking crucial iodine and has soaked it up. If the stain remains for more than four hours, you iodine levels are fine.
Why are iodine levels so important?
Low levels of iodine mean your thyroid isn't functioning properly. The thyroid helps balance hormones, regulate heartbeats, stabilize cholesterol, maintain weight control, encourage muscle growth, keep menstrual cycles regular, provide energy, and even helps you keep a positive mental attitude.
Women are naturally prone to iodine deficiencies. That's because the thyroid gland in women is twice as large as in men -- so under normal circumstances, women need more iodine. However, when women are under stress, the need for iodine can double or triple. Yet the foods we eat contain less and less dietary iodine. For example, back in 1940, the typical American diet contained about 800 micrograms of iodine. By 1995, that amount plunged to just 135 micrograms. That's an 83% decline.
Two thirds of the body's iodine is found in the thyroid gland. One of the best ways to boost your iodine levels is to add seaweed sea vegetables to your diet. Just one teaspoon of sea vegetables a day can help you regain normal iodine levels. Incorporating seafood and fish into your diet can also help. Other foods that contain iodine are eggs and dairy products, including milk, cheese and yogurt, onions, radishes, and watercress. Some foods, called goitrogens, should be omitted for awhile as they hinder iodine utilization. These included kale, cabbage, peanuts, soy flour, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, broccoli, kohlrabi and turnips.
To reactivate the thyroid gland, tyrosine, iodine, zinc, copper and selenium are needed so make sure that foods containing these nutrients are included in your diet.
1.Water purification- add several drops SSKI and wait 3 min before drink

23. Others- DM, Graves' disease, HPT, Obesity, PCOS, Recurrent and Chronic infection, Thyroid nodules.

How to make Lugol's Iodine
Lugol's solution consists of
1. 5 g iodine (I2) and
2. 10 g potassium iodide (KI) mixed with
3. 85 ml distilled water, to make a brown solution with a total iodine content of 130 mg/mL.
To make the original version, we use what amounts to a 3% (2.91%) formula (iodine and iodine compound). The formula is simple: 80 gm. of potassium iodine (KI) is added to 4,000 ml of distilled water (roughly 4,000 gm). After fully dissolving, 40 gm. of iodine crystal is added. After the iodine crystal fully dissolves (which takes several hours), the product is packaged and stored.
To make the newer 7% Lugol's version, using the same 4,000 ml. of distilled water, the amounts of iodine use are 200 gm. of KI, and 100 gm. of iodine crystal. For 15% Lugol's, to 4,000 ml. of distilled water we dissolve 480 gm. of KI and 240 gm. of iodine crystal.
Potassium iodide renders the elementary iodine soluble in water through the formation of the triiodide (I3−) ion. It is not to be confused with tincture of iodine solutions, which consist of elemental iodine, and iodide salts dissolved in water and alcohol. Lugol's solution contains no alcohol.

Calcium ... don't too much.. Magnesium-calcium truth
A healthy cell has high magnesium and low calcium levels. Calcium can lodge anywhere in your body and cause serious harm if not balanced with magnesium, which regulates the action of calcium.
excess calcium buildup around your bones and joints mimics arthritis. Too much calcium lodged in your heart imitates arterial lesions. Calcification or calcium poisoning can manifest as heart disease, cancer, wrinkled skin, kidney stones, osteoporosis, dental problems, bone spurs, cataracts and many other health problems.
The adverse effects of excessive calcium intake may include high blood calcium levels, kidney stone formation and kidney complications. [17] [17] Elevated calcium levels are also associated with arthritic/joint and vascular degeneration, calcification of soft tissue, hypertension and stroke, and increase in VLDL triglycerides, gastrointestinal disturbances, mood and depressive disorders, chronic fatigue, and general mineral imbalances including magnesium, zinc, iron and phosphorus. High calcium levels interfere with Vitamin D and subsequently inhibit the vitamin’s cancer protective effect unless extra amounts of Vitamin D are supplemented.
Signs and symptoms of hypercalcemia may include:
• Nausea
• Fatigue
• Vomiting
• Lethargy
• Stomach Pain
• Moodiness
• Constipation
• Irritability
• Anorexia
• Confusion
• Excessive thirst
• Extreme muscle weakness
• Dry mouth or throat
• Irregular heartbeat
• Frequent Urination
• Coma
When it comes to magnesium and calcium neither can be divided from the other. One is not divisible from the other in terms of overall effect. They are paired minerals yet it is magnesium that holds the overall key for their paired function. In truth magnesium holds the key to life. It is, as the Chinese say, the most beautiful of all metals. It is a nutritional element that can and is used as a medicine to great effect by all who know of its beauty and power.

Heart Attack Proof
There are plenty of ways to lower your risk of heart attack without taking aspirin.
Risk factor ( increase blood viscosity)-Chol, smoking, obesity, diabetes,BP,Gender, Blood count and age.
Risk factor - waist size, BP, low HDL, Fasting Blood sugar,Trig- Metabolic Syndrome. Others Homocysteine, CRP, fibrolytic activity.
3-tired strategy : Nutrition, Exercise, Supplements.
1. Eat a low glycemic load diet. High fat-high protein diet
Carb sugars and starches spike your blood sugar levels, later trigger insulin to deal with it. Elevated insulin levels have been linked to greater risk of heart disease. The best method for keeping your blood sugars level is to follow a low glycemic index diet.
BUT Avoid trans fat- increased risk of heart disease by 50%.eg margerine, peanut butter, crackers.SEE labels hydrogenated oils which means trans fat.
2. Get moving. Interval exercise
Interval workouts help you build a stronger heart in as little as 10 – 12 minutes a day.You see, heart attacks usually occur when people are at rest or when they make a sudden high demand on their heart. PACE trains your heart to handle these sudden increases in demand. That’s something aerobic training doesn’t do.
3. Lower your homocysteine level.
Elevated homocysteine levels triple your risk of heart attack.
If it’s above 8, you can bring it down safely with B vitamins. by taking a supplement of vitamin B2 (25 mg), B6 (25 mg), B12 (500 mcg) and folate (800 mcg).
4. Take CoQ10.
CoQ10 lowers blood pressure,it improves virtually every health issue associated with heart failure.Recommended dose 100 mg of the ubiquinol form per day.
5. Reduce blood viscosity - by blood donation/shedding.
6. Seanol- antioxidants/polyphenols/flavanoids
7. Resveratrol
8. Essential Phospholipid
9. Potasium and magnesium
10. Periodontal disease and ED - increase risk of heart attack
Target Haematocrit- 29.
Linus Pauling Protocol
Vit C Ascorbic acid 6- 18g daily
Lysine 2-6 g daily

Stretching for low back pain
To relieve lower back pain, stretch the front of your hips daily (or every other day).
Hip Flexors: You need to do this stretch, particularly if you sit all day at work. Sitting all day puts pressure on the hip flexor muscles. This is a major cause of minor low back pain. Stretching your hip flexors muscles several times a week will prevent this kind of lower back pain.
How To: Stand in a modified runner stance, with right foot forward and left foot back, feet flat on floor. Put your hands on your hips and keep your back and hips in straight alignment. Push forward with your hips, while maintaining your erect posture. Slowly, push your hips forward only until you feel a comfortable level of tension. Hold for a 10 count. Switch sides by reversing your leg stance and repeat.

Feminising problem in man
You already know that industrial chemicals can be dangerous. But did you know that modern industry is putting hundreds of chemicals into your everyday environment that mimic the female hormone estrogen?
These estrogen look-alikes are waging war on your masculinity. This saps your strength, muscle, ambition, competitive spirit and sexual performance. As your estrogen rises and your testosterone drops, you can expect:
* Fat Gain: Fat replaces shrinking muscles.
* Sexual Problems: Sex drive fades and erections become seldom or difficult.
* Loss of Ambition: Fatigue and low energy sap your drive and will to succeed.
* Increasing Risk of Prostate Disease: Excess estrogen causes both prostate enlargement and prostate cancer.
Today, I’ll tell you why fake estrogens are a threat and where they are. Then, I’ll show you how to reduce or eliminate your exposure. You’ll also discover foods and supplements that can reverse this feminizing process.
Know What You’re Up Against
The problem is that many modern synthetics used in today’s products have structures almost exactly like estrogen.
When they get into your bloodstream, they give your cells a new set of instructions. They tell your body to become more feminine.
The most specific sign of excess estrogen is extra fat in your breast. But long before “man boobs,” most men will get a gradual “softening.” You develop a soft, “dough boy” appearance as your muscle turns to fat.
Over time, you start to lose your masculine edge, your confidence and sense of purpose. You may feel fatigued or depressed and your sex drive usually plummets.
If you go to a doctor for advice, he’ll run useless tests, put you on drugs that have nothing to do with the cause of your problem, or tell you that, “you’re just getting old.” Sadly, most men accept their loss of physical power, mental focus and sexual potency as part of the normal aging process.
Few ever realize they’re being poisoned. With the FDA insisting that adding estrogens to our food is safe and doctors knowing virtually nothing about it, how could these men know that they’ve been chemically castrated?
The Dangers of a Plastic World
Since you can’t see, smell or taste them, you can’t tell which products contain estrogen look-a-likes. But they are very common. Here’s a short list:
Vinyl Flooring
Deodorants
Moisturizers
Pesticides
Detergents
Perfumes
Garden hoses
Fertilizers
Shampoo
Hair Spray
Inflatable toys
Plastics
And the list goes on… But plastics are the worst – because they are everywhere. From plastic bags and water bottles to the packaging your food comes in – plastic is almost impossible to escape.
Two of the big offenders are bisphenol A and phthalates (pronounced THAL-ates). These man-made chemicals have structures that look strikingly similar to estrogen.
Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) is another. It’s used to make Teflon and Gore-Tex. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) tested for the presence of phthalates and PFOA in the general population. The results were sobering. Every person tested – without exception – had trace amounts of both chemicals in their bloodstream.1
Jim Pirkle, deputy director at the CDC’s Environmental Laboratory warned that these findings have serious implications – especially for men. “The big concern with phthalates is that they have anti-androgen activity. They get rid of things that are in the testosterone line – the things that make a man a man.” 1
Rising Estrogen Can Lead to Infertility – Even Cancer
More than 15 percent of couples in the U.S. are unable to have a child.2 And in 30 percent to 40 percent of these cases, male infertility is the problem. But not just in America. British sperm counts and sperm density have dropped dramatically between 1938 and 1991.3
Scientists in Britain suspected the chemical HPTE, commonly found in pesticides. By experimenting on rats, they found that HPTE directly interferes with testosterone production in the testes.4
Tufts University researchers found that crop dusters who handled estrogen-mimicking pesticides lost their sexual desire and developed very low sperm counts.5 It’s no small wonder that male breast cancer has increased 26 percent over the last two decades.6
Yet prostate disease is a far bigger threat. German researchers found that estrogen levels in prostatic tissue increase, as men get older.7 And the journal Prostate reported that estrogen increases your risk of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) – or swollen prostate.
Even more incriminating, a Japanese team discovered that prostate size directly correlates with the ratio of estradiol (a form of estrogen) to free testosterone. They reported, “patients with large prostates have more estrogen dominate environments” and “estrogens are the key hormones for the induction and development of BPH.”
This problem is made worse when it coincides with another hormonal problem – falling testosterone.
Measure Your Masculine Ratio
Testosterone is the source of your masculine features. But as you get older, your levels drop.
Once you hit 40, your testosterone level decreases about one percent a year.8
As your levels fall, and your body accumulates estrogen, the ratio of testosterone-to-estrogen starts to shift unfavorably:
(Adapted from Dilman and Dean, 1992, based on data from Moroz and Verkhratsky, 1985)
Your ratio of testosterone to estrogen should be at least 4:1. That’s four parts testosterone to one part estrogen. All other things being equal – the higher your ratio, the more masculine you’ll look and feel. I try to get my male patients closer to 8:1.
Many of the men who come to my clinic have ratios that are below 4:1. In fact, about 10 percent of the older men coming to my clinic have more female estrogen than male testosterone.
Once you fall below 4:1, you’ll have the following problems: low sex drive, problems achieving and/or maintaining an erection, excess fat, loss of ambition, memory problems, fatigue and sometimes depression and anxiety.
Rising estrogen increases fat. (That’s why they give it to farm animals.) It starts with a smooth layer of fat under the skin. This robs you of muscle definition. If often progresses to a pudgy abdomen and fat-rounding of the face and jaw. But you’re not stuck with it. If you get rid of excess estrogen rapidly, you’ll reduces this fat.
An example from my clinic: Ron L. came in with fatigue and no sex drive. When his blood tests came back, his testosterone was only 384 – a level I’d expect from someone twice his age. To make matters worse, his estrogen was 156 – (more than some women). His ratio of testosterone to estrogen was only 2.7:1 – far too low for a man.
Even though he only weighed 175, he was carrying a lot of body fat at 35%. In other words, he was obese even though he wasn’t particularly overweight. This can happen if you replace enough of your muscle with fat. Notice he had only 108 lbs. of lean tissue.
I put him on the same program to boost testosterone and muscle, and lower fat and estrogen that you have in this article. As you can see in the chart, he built 30 lbs. of muscle and lost 30 lbs. of fat in only a few months:

Follow These Simple Steps and Boost Your Masculine Ratio Today…
As a start, reduce or eliminate the most common ways excess estrogen gets into your body. Here are a few suggestions you can apply right away:
* Eliminate pesticides from water with a water purifier.
* Wash your vegetables and fruits before eating.
* Buy grass-fed or hormone free meats. If you get meat from other sources, trim off the fat. Estrogen mimickers collect in the fat.
* Avoid processed meats – they have fat ground in.
* Avoid processed carbohydrates like bread, cereals, and pasta. They cause excess insulin, which builds fat and stimulates feminizing estrogen.
* Eat vegetables high in fiber to absorb excess estrogen.
* Work with your doctor to reduce or eliminate medications. These interfere with your liver’s capacity to remove excess estrogens.
By making changes to your food, you can easily improve your testosterone to estrogen ratio. Here are my top choices for boosting testosterone and lowering estrogen:
* Oysters: These “original testosterone boosters,” are packed with protein, zinc and magnesium – all three play a key role in testosterone production.
* Lean Beef: One of your best choices for overall good health. When possible, eat grass-fed beef.
* Beans: These offer a great combination of protein and fiber with more zinc than any other veggie. Navy, lima, kidney, and green beans are good sources.
* Eggs: Eggs have all essential amino acids, making them the best source of protein. And don’t believe the hype; cholesterol in eggs won’t hurt you.
* Broccoli: This is one of the best foods for eliminating estrogens in the urine.
* Cabbage: Also great for reducing estrogen and a good source of fiber.
* Brussels’s Sprouts: Also estrogen-targeting fiber and nutrient-rich veggies.
* Garlic: Enhances testosterone and blocks cortisol, your body’s stress hormone.
In my practice, I use a combination of supplements to bring down estrogen levels in my patients.
Dindolylmethane (DIM), a naturally occurring compound found in brussels sprouts and cabbage, helps your body break down estrogen into safe compounds, clearing away the unwanted female hormone. I recommend taking 100 mg of DIM.
In a study from the University of California at Berkeley, patients who took DIM were able to break down estrogen — and excrete is as metabolites in their urine — much more efficiently than those not taking DIM.
Indole-3-carbinol, a precursor to DIM, helps metabolize estrogen into harmless compounds. It also prevents the negative effects too much estrogen in a male body can cause, by blocking the fake estrogen from attaching to your cell’s receptors. Take 100 mg of Indole-3-carbinol a day.
Resveratrol inhibits the enzyme aromatase. Aromatase is the enzyme that converts testosterone to estrogen. By stopping that process, resveratrol allows you to keep your testosterone levels high. Take 200 mg of resveratrol daily.
Chaste tree berry helps reduce prolactin levels.9 Prolactin is a hormone women secrete when they are pregnant. Men don’t want it in their bodies. Take 100 mg a day of chaste tree berry.
A blood test will tell you your testosterone to estrogen ratio. Once you’ve established your “baseline,” use the advice here to boost your ratio. Try to keep your estrogen below 130, with a testosterone to estrogen ratio of at least 4:1.

* Brussels’s Sprouts: Also estrogen-targeting fiber and nutrient-rich veggies.
