They make a healthful, delicious salad. Half a cup of raw spinach contains 100 mcg of folic acid. Add four spears of asparagus and half a cup of broccoli and you’re up to 235 mcg.

Throw in some garbanzo beans, cucumbers, and avocado and you’ve got a meal packed with allergy-reducing folate.

Folate can be destroyed by numerous pharmaceuticals, such as antacids, antidepressants, diabetic drugs, and many others.If you take any of these medications and have allergies, a folate deficiency may be why.

The truth about eggs...

Let’s get this straight. Moderately high cholesterol — in the low 200s — is not necessarily a risk factor for heart disease. And foods that are naturally high in cholesterol do not necessarily raise your blood levels of cholesterol, either.

Most of your cholesterol — 85%, in fact — comes from your liver. So you don’t need to completely avoid animal products like yogurt, cheese, and eggs in order to have low cholesterol. Or even a little beef or chicken. The key is to keep your intake low and balance it with plenty of vegetables and fruits. This keeps your liver from being congested and churning out more cholesterol than your body needs.

High-cholesterol foods have been given a bad rap. This is unfortunate, because some can be downright beneficial. Take eggs, for instance. They protect your heart and brain and lower high blood pressure. And they can do this without raising your LDL cholesterol levels.

Egg yolks are higher in choline, a nutrient that can protect you from breast cancer and memory loss, than any other food. It explained how adding eggs into your diet can be much more beneficial than harmful.

Now a new study makes eggs even more attractive. This study said eggs can reduce your blood pressure. And high blood pressure does put you at increased risk for heart disease.

Canadian researchers found that enzymes in the stomach and small intestines make several different ACE inhibitors when they come into contact with particular proteins in eggs. These are very similar to the ACE inhibitor prescription drugs prescribed by many doctors to lower blood pressure.

So far, research has been limited to laboratory tests. I expect we’ll see human studies in the future. Meanwhile, if you enjoy eggs and have high blood pressure, try eating one or two eggs a day. By the way, fried eggs had higher ACE inhibiting activity than boiled eggs. We don’t know why. But enjoy them however you want.

Why it’s not the smartest decision to take statins

The good news about statins is that they reduce cholesterol.

The bad news about statins is that they reduce cholesterol.

Most people don’t realize that cholesterol is essential for good brain function. This is why you should know that taking statins could affect your memory — and not in a positive way.

Let me explain.

Your brain needs cholesterol to release neurotransmitters. These are chemicals that send signals from brain cell to brain cell. “Neurotransmitters ... affect how smart you are and how well you remember things,” says Yeon-Kyun Shin, head researcher of a recent cholesterol study at Iowa State University.

In fact, there’s a direct connection between cholesterol and neurotransmitters.

Reduce cholesterol and you risk reducing your memory and data processing functions. This means that low cholesterol could be the unnecessary cause of some of your senior moments. Here’s why.

LDL (“lousy” cholesterol) is cholesterol in your blood that travels from the liver to cells throughout your body. HDL (“healthy” cholesterol) is cholesterol that comes out of these cells. If you have too much cholesterol getting into your cells and not enough coming out, your cells can harden. This leads to cholesterol deposits.

Statins keep your liver from making cholesterol. This means that less of it gets into your cells — including your brain cells. Dr. Shin explains, “If you try to lower the cholesterol by taking medicine that is attacking the machinery of cholesterol synthesis in the liver, that medicine goes to the brain too. And then it reduces the synthesis of cholesterol which is necessary in the brain.”

While less cholesterol in your brain may affect your memory, more cholesterol won’t make you smarter. This is because the cholesterol in your blood can’t get through the blood-brain barrier and into your brain. However, since medications that lower cholesterol (such as statins) can, the solution is to find other ways to protect your heart. Statins are not the answer.

One supplement, policosanol, lowers HDL and raises HDL without any negative side effects.

Another supplement, coenzyme Q10, which statins deplete, could be all you need to take. CoQ10 protects your heart from statin damage. But it also protects your brain. The best absorbed form of CoQ10 is ubiquinol. If you’re taking CoQ10, consider switching to ubiquinol.

Graves' disease

1. Check  iodine levels. Why? Classical signs of iodine deficiency - Fibrocystic breast disease, Graves’ disease, menstrual cramps, heavy menses, and brittle fingernails. 

Started on a combination of iodine (one drop of Lugol’s solution), along with 9.6 mg of lithium orotate. The reason for using iodine is obvious. But why the lithium? to counter depressions and also suppress the thyroid.Plus Flaxseed oil and Vit E to prevent toxicity.

If breast disease and the heavy periods persisted,  there was a problem other than iodine deficiency. Another common cause of both these symptoms is a low level of the hormone progesterone. Progesterone deficiency is a common problem in young women, but it is almost always an issue in women in their 40s.Ultimately, these conditions responded to a combination of progesterone replacement, vitamin B6, and magnesium. I prescribed the B6 and magnesium because it works with progesterone. And is often needed in progesterone deficiencies.

The other issue was that when thyroid gland was steadily healing, adjust lithium and iodine levels every two to three months to the changes in her thyroid status.

And then a year later, patient will need thyroid hormone replacement. Why thyroid hormones? Didn’t patient already have too much thyroid hormone?
Well, yes, at one point . But now, a year later, the Graves’ disease was cured, and patient was no longer hyperthyroid. In fact, the thyroid was starting to become more like the thyroid of the average 48 year old — an under-functioning thyroid.

Carpal tunnel Syndrome

The symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome are caused by a compression on the median nerve as it passes through the carpal tunnel usually due to repetitive work that results in trauma and/or inflammation to the wrist such as  people do a lot of uninterrupted typing, grocery checking, knitting, etc.

The known pre-conditions that can lead to carpal tunnel syndrome include
1. cervical (neck) subluxation,
2. weight gain,
3. hypothyroidism,
4. arthritis,
5. diabetes, and
6. vitamin deficiencies- B vitamins  - Take a B-complex capsule containing 50 mg of each of the B-vitamins, along with 100 mg of vitamin B6 twice a day.

The Single Most Effective Treatment : ozone therapy
The technique for treating carpal tunnel syndrome with ozone is as follows.

1. Inject 0.5 cc of a special form of B12 called methyl-B12, 0.5 cc B6, and 1.0 cc of 2% buffered procaine just under the skin (sub-q) over the underside of the wrist.

2. Then inject 2 cc of ozone at a concentration of 10 gamma in the same area.

Take your blood pressure regularly. And you should take it at times when you’re not nervous.
Follow these steps:
(1) Before taking your measurement, be sure that you are seated quietly for at least five minutes with your feet on the floor and your arm supported at the level of your heart.
(2) Avoid caffeine, exercise, and smoking for at least 30 minutes before you
(3) Take the first measurement. Then wait 15 seconds and take a second measurement. If they are essentially the same, record that reading. If they are different, measure your pressure a third time. Record the lowest of the three readings as your blood pressure. Do this in the morning before breakfast, and again in the evening before supper.
(4) Repeat these steps for about two weeks and then average them up to determine your average blood pressure. Don’t include any occasional spikes in the readings, as these will throw off the average unnecessarily.

How to Knock Out Digestive Problems Once and For All

  • Food sensitivities
     Stop eating known offending foods and drinks  completely for just three months then try to reintroduce. Especially Gluten Intolerance - wheat or oat bran.

  • Low digestive enzymes and/or low stomach acid

    Take the enzymes for a week or two and see if  symptoms go away. If so, then take the enzymes on an on-going basis. Don’t  take them all the time — only when the stomach problems arise. 
          To determine if your digestive problem is due to too little stomach acid. The next time you have  
          heartburn, gas, or bloating, simply take a teaspoonful of lemon juice or apple cider vinegar. If your
          problem clears up, it means you don’t have enough stomach acid.

Here’s the best natural treatment:

1. Limit your diet to only vegetables, fruit, and water until the attack is over. Take 400 mg of boswellia extract every eight hours, and drink 10 ounces of pure cherry juice every four hours. In all but the worst cases, you’ll see relief within 24 hours.

2. Once it’s gone, prevention is important. The condition is genetic and will return if you don’t take the proper measures.
First of all, limit dietary protein to the minimum you need to be healthy. This often means eating animal protein only once or twice a week. The worst protein in this regard is the red meats and seafood, such as shrimp and shellfish.
Next, limit your alcohol intake. Alcohol, particularly beer and wine, tends to block the ability of the kidney to excrete uric acid, and can precipitate an attack.
Third, watch out for aspirin and certain supplements, particularly anything that contains yeast, niacin, inositol, RNA, or DNA. Also, watch out for the sugar fructose. You’ll find large amounts in soft drinks. Too much will raise the uric acid level and cause gout.

Take low dose Lithium (10- 15mg bd ) and Vit C (2g bd)- can prevent recurrent attack of gout. Vit C reduce uric acid level and lithium make it more soluble so prevent it from crystallize in the joint.

Follow these measures until you can verify that you are keeping your blood uric acid level in the normal range.

What to do if Viral URTI develop into bacterial infection

Typical bacterial infections cause a lot of coughing, some chest pain, and maybe even some wheezing.

Solution no 1- Vitamin A

Vitamin A has all of the characteristics of a natural antibiotic when use in high enough doses. For an adult, start taking 100,000 units of vitamin A, three times a day. The pediatric dose is 600 units multiplied by the child’s weight in pounds. So a 50-pound child should take 30,000 units three times a day. Women who are pregnant, might be pregnant, or are nursing should never take doses of vitamin A greater than 5,000 units per day. But for the rest of us, this dose is very safe, as long as you take it only for the 7-10 days needed to treat an infection.

Solution no 2- Dr. Navarro’s Magic Potion aka Natural Antibiotics

Solution no 3 - Adrenal Hormones : Hydrocortisone and DHEA

Use in cases in which there is a significant amount of exhaustion or stress, particularly leading up to the infection. I also use it when there’s wheezing or shortness of breath.

This remedy is a combination of the two major adrenal hormones that your body needs in large amounts to get over an infection. One hormone is hydrocortisone (you may know it as cortisol), and the other is DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone). The doses are: 10 mg of hydrocortisone and 10 mg of DHEA. Take this dose in the morning, at noon, and at 3:00 p.m.

Like all of the remedies I’m describing, take them only as long as the infection is present.

How to treat Respiratory Viral infection

By using a special hydrogen peroxide solution and administer through a nebulizer

the formula : To a 250 cc bag of normal saline add 2.5 cc of pharmaceutical grade 3% hydrogen
peroxide, 5 cc of manganese sulfate, and 1 cc of magnesium sulfate.

Then add 3 cc of the hydrogen peroxide mixture to the nebulizer. Place the mask over your mouth and nose and breathe until the solution is gone. Do it every hour for the first day, and then four to six times a day until the infection is completely resolved. In most cases, if you start the treatment early enough, before it has gotten a stronghold, this will be in two to four days.


These treatments also useful for non-viral illnesses such as asthma and patients with chronic lung disease. In cases involving chronic lung disorders, such as interstitial disease, cystic fibrosis, chronic bronchitis, or emphysema, the patient have to use the treatment two to three times per day indefinitely. Most of the time, they will see a distinct improvement.

You also can use this treatment safely on infants and children of all ages.

It’s vital to treat the viral infection quickly so it doesn’t turn into a bacterial infection. The nebulizer treatment is perfect for this. It will stop viral progression within 48 hours as long as you get started early enough and make sure to use it hourly.

Viruses can’t live in an alkaline environment, so eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. And keep your grains and proteins low. You can get extra calories by adding flax oil, olive oil, or butter to your veggies.

Sugar feeds viruses. Stop eating them completely while you’re sick.

Get a big jar of vitamin C and take 1,000 mg every hour or two. You may get loose stools, but that’s all the discomfort you’re likely to experience.

If you have no appetite, consider making a protein drink with added oils. Or have someone pick up a bottle of carrot juice at your local health food store and add a little heavy cream to it. These fats will not only help you fight the flu, they will increase your absorption of fat-soluble vitamins, such as the vitamin A in the carrot juice.

Using Bicarbonate

During the first day take six doses of half teaspoonful of Arm & Hammer Bicarbonate of Soda in glass of cool water, at about two hour intervals.

During the second day take four doses of half teaspoonful of Arm and Hammer Bicarbonate of Soda in glass of cool water, at the same intervals.

During the third day take two doses of half teaspoonful of Arm and Hammer Bicarbonate of Soda in glass of cool water morning and evening, and thereafter half teaspoonful in glass of cool water each morning until cold is cured.

Gallbladder cleanse protocol

Here’s how you do it:

First, read all the instructions carefully before beginning. Never cleanse when you are ill. Choose a day before your day off for the cleanse, so you will be able to rest the next day. On that day, take no vitamins, herbs, or medicines that you can do without.

What you will need:

• 4 tablespoons of Epsom salts
• 1/2 cup of light olive oil
• 2/3 cup of fresh grapefruit juice (preferably pink)
• 4-8 ornithine capsules 500 mg (you can get this from any health food store)
• 1 large plastic straw
• 1 pint jar (with lid)
• 1 measuring cup
• Vitamin C powder and lemonade (optional)

The day you take the cleanse, eat a no-fat breakfast and lunch, such as cooked cereal with fruit, fruit juice, bread and preserves or honey, a baked potato or other vegetables. No spices besides salt. No butter, eggs, meat, or dairy.

At 2:00 p.m.: Do not eat or drink after 2:00 p.m. Mix the Epsom salts in three cups of water and pour this into a glass. Set the glass in the refrigerator.

At 6:00 p.m.: Drink 3/4 cup of the chilled Epsom salt mixture. You may add 1/8 tsp of vitamin C powder to improve the taste. You may also drink a few mouthfuls of water afterward to rinse your mouth.

At 8:00 p.m.: Drink another 3/4 cup of the Epsom salt mixture. The timing is somewhat critical for success. Don’t be more than 10 minutes early or late.

At 9:45 p.m.: Pour 1/2 cup of the olive oil into the pint jar. Squeeze the grapefruit juice by hand into a measuring cup, being sure to have at least 1/2 to 3/4 cup. Remove the pulp and add this to the olive oil. You may top it off with the lemonade. Close the jar tightly with the lid, and shake hard until watery (only fresh grapefruit juice does this). Prepare for bed.

At 10:00 p.m.: Drink the olive oil/juice cocktail you have just mixed. Take four of the ornithine capsules with the first few sips to make sure you will sleep through the night. Take all eight if you already have insomnia. Drinking through a large plastic straw helps it go down easier. You may use catsup, cinnamon, or brown sugar to chase it down between sips. Get it down within five minutes (15 minutes for very elderly or weak persons).

Lie Down Immediately: You may fail to get stones out if you don’t. The sooner you lie down, the more stones you will get out. Be ready for bed ahead of time. Don’t waste any time by cleaning up the jar, etc. As soon as the drink is down, lie down in bed on your back with your head up high on a pillow. Try to keep still for at least 20 minutes. As your gallbladder passes the stones, you may feel the sensation, but there will be no pain thanks to the Epsom salts. Go to sleep right away. You may fail to pass the stones if you don’t.

Next Morning: Upon awakening (but not before 6:00 a.m.), get up and take another 3/4 cup of the Epsom salt mixture. If you have indigestion or nausea, wait until it is gone before drinking the Epsom salts. You may go back to bed if you wish.

2 Hours Later: Take your fourth and last 3/4 cup of Epsom salts. You may go back to bed.

2 Hours Later: You may now eat! Start with fruit juice. Half an hour later eat some fruit. One hour later, you may eat regular food, but keep it light. By supper, you should feel fully recovered.

Expect diarrhea in the morning. Use a flashlight to look for gallstones in the toilet. Look for the green kind. These are genuine gallstones, and not just food residue. Gallstones float on water. You may also see “chaff stones” floating on the water. These are cholesterol crystals that have not yet had the time to form stones. If needed, you may repeat this cleanse at two-week intervals.

Natural Antibiotics

Blend the following in a blender:

• 16 oz bottle of apple cider vinegar ( 500 ml)
• ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
• 2 whole bulbs of peeled garlic
• 2 onions (medium sized)
• 6 teaspoons of cayenne pepper (If this amount of cayenne is too hot
for you, use less)
• Thumb size piece of fresh ginger

After you’ve blended the ingredients, take two tablespoons four times daily. Children should take only two teaspoons a day. Take it only as long as the infection is present (7-10 days).
